| Mount Blanc is the highest peak in the Alps. To climb this beautiful mountain is truly a memorable experience. The magnificent scenery and final exposed summit ridge makes this perhaps the finest snow route in the Alps. The ascent offers a relatively straight-forward, high altitude climb in a dramatic alpine setting suitable for both beginner and intermediate climbers with some mountaineering experience. In addition to the outstanding views and rugged terrain, climbers will experience the luxuries of the well-maintained hut system, European culture, and fabulous food. These features make for a genuinely enjoyable climbing experience. You will begin the acclimatization process and review skills by climbing a few 4000 meter peaks. |

| Difficulty: BEGINNER Good physical conditioning & basic mountaineering experience with the use of crampons and ice axe. |

The favoured routes are the Normal Route via Gouter Ridge. The main difficulty involves steep rock scrambling (at times on crampons) to get to the Gouter Hut on day 1. The last two hours of the climb require front pointing on crampons and finally a very exposed traverse along the icy / snowy summit ridge. Other possibility is to climb the Traverse Route via Cosmique Hut. It involves an easy first day, but the summit day is longer and more strenuous than the normal route and requires front pointing on your crampons on several occasions. |

| 5 days climb programme The aim of this programme is to enjoy a week of fantastic alpine mountaineering around Chamonix and to make a successful and safe ascent (and descent!) of the Mount Blanc. Our standard programme is 5 days with acclimatization and preparation - at a maximum guide ratio of 1:2. |
|||||
| Dates & Duration The season for climbing the Mount Blanc is from June until September. We only guide private groups, so dates are available on request. We find that this programme works well but we have occasionally had groups who felt that a 6 or 7 day programme might have suited them better, allowing more time for preparation and also additional time in case of adverse weather. An extension to the trip will increase the cost. Contact our office for further details. |
